Linda’s Old Fashioned Bread Pudding with Whiskey Glaze

Bread Pudding
Ingredients for bread pudding:
  • 1 pound day-old bread (10-12 slices) torn into 1 inch pieces
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 egg
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/2 cup low fat milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Ingredients for whiskey glaze:
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons whiskey 
Instructions for bread pudding:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a large bowl, soak the bread pieces in the water
  • Stir in raisins and place in an 8 inch square baking dish that has been coated with nonstick baking oil spray.
  • In a small bowl, with an electric mixer on medium speed, beat the remaining ingredients until well combined.
  • Pour over the bread mixture and bake for 60-65 minutes or until puffy and set in the center.
Instructions for whiskey glaze:
  • Stir powdered sugar and whiskey until smooth, then drizzle over the top of the bread pudding while it is hot.
