Evelyn’s Apple Dapple Cake

Ingredients for cake:
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups salad oil
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 cups chopped apples
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
Instructions for cake:
  • Mix eggs, salad oil and sugar. Blend well.
  • Sift flour, salt and baking soda; add to the egg mixture.
  • Add chopped apples, vanilla and nuts. Mix well.
  • Place in a greased and floured cake pan.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour until the cake tests done.
  • Pour hot topping over hot cake.
Ingredients for topping:
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 stick butter
Instructions for topping:
  • Mix ingredients.
  • Cook (boil) for 2 1/2 minutes.
  • Pour immediately over the hot cake.
